Northwest Territories
The Northwest Territories, made up of five different regions, is Canada’s northernmost province. With a population of a little over 45,000 people and 1,346million square kilometers, it is also Canada’s least populated province. Aside from the province's numerous small towns the capital city of Yellowknife offers a lot of opportunity. While most immigrants gravitate toward the major cities such as Toronto, Vancouver or Calgary, which can make getting a job in Canada somewhat more difficult, the opportunity to obtain a job offer is much better in the more isolated areas. The added benefit is getting to experience the natural beauty of Canada’s wild north. Enjoy the northern lights aka aurora borealis during the winter months and breathtaking national parks populated by North American bison, that stretch for thousands of square kilometers. The Northwest territories are an opportunity waiting for you to enjoy.
How Does the PNP Work?
There are three streams through which you can earn a provincial nomination; Express Entry, Skilled Worker Program or the Critical Impact Worker Program. If you are applying through the Express Entry program, you will need to meet the federal immigration requirements. This program can yield a quicker pathway to obtaining permanent residency, however, it entails more stringent requirements. The first step is to determine which stream you must apply to as well as secure a valid job offer from a designated Northwest Territory (NWT) employer. There are many job opportunities in Canada, and the Northwest Territories are no exception. You must meet the eligibility requirements of your chosen stream and submit your application to the NWT provincial government or through the Express Entry system.
Skilled Worker Program
The skilled worker program is for applicants whose job type is listed as 0, A or B under the National Occupation Classification (NOC). The stream requires you to register and create a profile via the Immigrate to NWT government portal. It is very similar to the Express Entry system in that you will also receive an Invitation to Apply if your skills and qualifications are in demand.
