Queen’s University was founded by the royal charter of Queen Victoria in 1841, making the university 26 years older than Canada itself. It’s ranked as the eigth best university in Canada.
The university is a leader for edge physics, cancer research, geoengineering, data analytics, surveillance studies, social science and mental health research. The professors are also known to be approachable which is what any student needs when it comes to their studies.
The university also has a Nobel prize winner. Professor emeritus Arthur McDonald is the co-winner of the 2015 Nobel Prize in physics.

Why Study at Queen’s University?
The campus size is not too big or overwhelming and the buildings are relatively close to each other.
The university has state-of-the-art facilities and for anyone interested in studying medicine, there is a teaching hospital connected to Queen’s University via tunnels. This hospital is quite large and is actually one of the two major hospitals serving the city of Kingston, Ontario.
Another plus for graduates is that through employee surveys, Queen's University is said to rank fifth in Canada for employment rate with 90 percent of the students finding a job within six months of graduation.
For those students wanting to stay on campus, the university houses 4,500 students in its 17 residencies that are all within a 20-minute walk from campus. First-year students tend to prefer staying on-campus as it’s close, safe and accessible.

Online Courses
No matter where you are in the world, you will still be able to be part of the Queen’s community. The university offers more than 140 courses that are open to everyone, with only a select few that are closed to Queen’s students only.
Queen’s University also offers online degree programs, six in the Faculty of Arts and Science alone which include Psychology, English, Global Development Studies, History, Liberal Studies, and Life Sciences.

Admissions
Queen’s University has very competitive candidates who generally produce high grades and applications. The acceptance rate is roughly 12,4 percent which puts the university as one of the most selective universities to study at in Canada.
Queen’s University Admission Process
- Apply online at the OUAC.
- Add queensu.ca as a safe sender and keep refreshing your inbox for the latest admission updates.
- Activate Queen’s NetID and use it to access SOLUS Student Center for details related to documents and additional requirements.
- Submit PSE and SE (audition and portfolio might also be an admission condition for some programs).
- Provide English Language Proficiency proof in the form of TOEFL/ IELTS/ PTE or equivalent.
- Track application status via SOLUS account.
Applications for the Fall Term (September - December) and Full Year (September 2020 - April 2021) are due at Queen's by 30 April 2021.
Applications for the Winter Term (January - April 2020) are due at Queen's by 30 September 2021.
